Let's talk about Dry Eye

In this interview, Dr. Maritza López, specialist in Ophthalmology, talks to us about Dry Eye Syndrome. This is a common condition that occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or produce poor quality tears. This causes a feeling of dryness, burning, itching and redness in the eyes. Other symptoms may include blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and difficulty wearing contact lenses. Dry eye syndrome can be caused by a variety of factors, such as aging, certain medications, autoimmune diseases, and environmental factors. Treatment usually involves the use of artificial tears, punctal plugs, or prescription medications to increase tear production.
