Jaundice: When the Skin Turns Yellow
Jaundice, also known as jaundice, is a condition in which the skin and eyes take on a yellowish or greenish hue due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow-orange pigment present in bile, a fluid secreted by the liver. This yellow discoloration is a common sign of jaundice and may be related to hemoglobin metabolism disorders, liver dysfunction, or bile duct obstruction. Dr. Andrés López, Pediatric Neonatologist from Panama City, talks to us about this topic in this exclusive interview with Lorena Martínez for SaludPanama.com.
